Creases in CanvasUpdated 2 months ago

Your paint-by-numbers canvas may have creases or wrinkles due to transport or storage. Fortunately, since the canvas is made of linen, there are several easy ways to remove the creases.

How to Smooth Out Your Canvas?

Here are some effective methods to remove creases from your canvas:

Method 1: Use an Iron (Low Temperature)

  1. Place the canvas face down on a smooth, heat-resistant surface.
  2. Lay a thin cloth or baking paper over the back of the canvas to prevent direct contact with the iron.
  3. Set the iron to a low temperature without steam.
  4. Gently iron over the cloth until the creases disappear.
  5. Let the canvas cool completely before hanging or working on it.

Method 2: Use a Book or a Heavy Object

  1. Place the canvas on a flat surface.
  2. Put a stack of heavy books or another flat, heavy object on top.
  3. Leave it under pressure for a few hours to a day to smooth out the creases.

Method 3: Stretch It on a Wooden Frame

  1. Attach the canvas to a wooden frame by stapling or securing it tightly.
  2. The tension applied to the linen will naturally remove creases within a few days.

Method 4: Use a Damp Cloth and a Hairdryer

  1. Lightly moisten a cloth and place it over the back of the canvas.
  2. Use a hairdryer on a low setting and move it slowly over the cloth.
  3. Keep the hairdryer moving and avoid soaking the cloth to prevent damage.
  4. Allow the canvas to fully dry before use.

With these simple techniques, your canvas will be smooth and ready to work on.
